The Head Of Engineering is a crucial position for Contis' Technology Team. This position will act as a representative of the Engineering Division to the CTO, CXOs, other departments, clients, and technology partners. A lot will be expected from this position with authority and ownership given to excel the Engineering Division which will be key to the organisational growth of Contis.

Responsibilities & Duties : 

  • Work closely with CTO, CXOs & Product Team to derive roadmap for the engineering division. Put planning, tracking, and reporting mechanisms in place to keep the information flow smooth and transparent. Leverage best tools & technologies solutions to meet this requirement
  • As a Head of Engineering, responsible for all technology work deliveries for Engineering Division, this includes all Products of Contis platforms and any other In-house systems
  • Work as a head of the departments for all different departments like Delivery Management, New Developments, Technical Architecture, Maintenance & Support, Quality Assurance, Client Support, 24*7 Technical Support, Documentation& Process compliance
  • Bring innovations & excellence in Project Deliveries to meet Go-To Market needs of the business in a best way
  • Work as a point of contact for Engineering Division’s work allocations to teams and make important business decisions for critical work items. Liaise with Contis global offices, departments, hosting centre, Integration Partners and Clients through various communication channels
  • Establish and optimise Software Development Life Cycle processes and ensure that the Business gets best benefit from the processes. Represent Contis at times of audit by third parties for compliance certification(s)
  • Work closely with Business/Client Delivery Team, CXOs to derive and agree business priorities and deliver work under releases through Contis release management process
  • Establish best working practices between globally located teams across India, UK, Europe. Apply innovative approaches for more interactive working between teams and bring out better productivity for organisation
  • Establish standard release management and project management processes across organisation in a way that globally located teams follow uniformly agreed processes. Work closely with counter-part process owners for the achieving this
  • Be the direct reporting manager of various departments, ensure their teams deliver best productivity and quality output. Provide necessary guidance, mentoring to managers and their team members
  • Establish reporting mechanism for each department and review their work plans
  • Apply tools and techniques to measure teams and divisions performance at regular intervals, identify bottlenecks, improvement points and take necessary actions with preventive & corrective measures. 
  • Work closely with HR, CTO and Managers to plan and execute formal performance and salary reviews, ensure that every team member performs their role & responsibilities to the best of their abilities
  • Management reporting to the business for team’s work deliveries, updates, systems performance and various KPI reports
  • Deep dive on functional solutions, technical decisions, quality assurance and all other divisions to ensure that work gets delivered to right quality and to business expected timelines. Push each department and ensure that they apply latest industry standard tools, solutions, and practices to keep Contis products to the forefront in industry
  • Responsible for deep diving on any escalated issues and help respective managers, liaise with Clients, third parties and other teams to get them resolved smoothly
  • Ensure functional, technical and management skills growth of teams through trainings and meet business needs. Help managers and their teams on moving the critical tasks forward and provide necessary guidance by deep diving at detailed level


Skills & Knowledge Required : 

  • 18+ years of IT industry experience with 7+ years of experience in projects/portfolio delivery management of software products & projects
  • Possess one or more industry recognised certifications like PMP, Prince 2, PgMP, Scrum Master
  • Proven experience of managing software development teams of more than 50 members
  • Expert with proven experience on Software Development Life Cycle processes along with Agile, Scrum Framework, Kanban, Waterfall, and other process models. Demonstrable experience with excellent results achieved. Shall be able to clearly demonstrate role played in defining / optimising processes across the organisation
  • Experience of working in a team structures of multiple scrum teams, scrum of scrums. Shall be able to apply own creative ways to bring best results from Engineering division
  • Experience with industry leading tools like JIRA or similar tools, demonstrable experience of successful implementation for Projects/Release planning, tracking, and reporting using such tools
  • Experience of working as a software developer at different seniority levels, i.e., Shall be able to clearly understand technical aspects involved at different stages of the Project(s) deliveries
  • Experience with various Compliance Standards & Process models like PCI DSS , ISO, CMM
  • Proven experience of working as a manager or managers of different profiles such as Technical Architect, Tech PMs, Project Co-Ordinator, QA Manager, Tech Support Manager, Documentation Manager, IT Manager
  • Experience of dealing with global teams & departments.
  • Shall be able to define role & responsibilities of each category of profiles within Engineering department so that clear goals and results can be attained from each Managers and their teams
  • Expert level of verbal & written skills
  • Good documentation skills along with experience of dealing with due diligence processes and documentation with technical partners, clients
  • Prepare scheduled / ad hoc - management reports, client presentations, incident reports for providing visibility of plans & progress to CXOs / Clients
  • Proven experience of participating in defining and optimising HR processes
  • Experience of playing a key role in creating vibrant and energetic culture within organisation to keep teams motivated and bring best out of them. Experience of employee retention strategies and successful results demonstrated

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience of working within a product based organisation
  • Experience of working with Finance/Banking/Card Payment industry
  • Experience of setting up and establishing PMO (Project Management Office) for uniformed project management processes followed across the organisation
  • Experience of working on Mission Critical Systems
